Cannot Find Missing Drivers for Unknown Hardware Device

Find Windows Drivers By Hardware Id Card

If you have purchased a desktop computer or laptop PC long before, and have accidently misplaced its driver installation media or the Windows restoration disk, it is likely that you might end up having many unknown devices with missing drivers enlisted in the Device Manager snap-in in your Windows operating system.
Since you purchased your PC long before and do not remember the names of the vendors of the hardware devices, and don’t even have their drivers files, you might spend several days searching for the appropriate device drivers for the unknown hardware installed on your computer.
With the help of the method discussed in this tutorial, you can easily identify the type of hardware device that is being identified as unknown by the Windows. Once the unknown device is identified, searching for its corresponding drivers is merely a matter of time.

Although the steps given below work in most cases, sometimes you might need to register yourself with some online device driver database portals without which they would not allow you to download the files for your hardware.
■Log on to the Windows 7 computer with any account (administrator account is recommended).
■Once on the desktop screen, press Windows + R keys simultaneously to initiate the Run command box.
■In the Run command box’s available field, type MSINFO32 command and hit Enter key.

■On the opened System Information window, from the left pane, expand Components tree.

■From the expanded list, click to select Problem Devices.
■Once the Problem Devices option is selected from the left pane, you’ll be able to see the device ID in the right pane under the PNP Device ID.

■Once the device ID is obtained, you can then search the drivers for the corresponding device using any of your favorite search engines.

In some cases, you might also need to register yourself on some driver portals, and you may also be asked to pay a minimal amount in order to get the subscription.
