Hp Data Protector 7 Troubleshooting Guide
Recently, I was in trouble with my backup solution. We are using HP DATA PROTECTOR version 7.x and after a reboot the server could not start new backup especifications. It's generated the following error: cannot start rds service system error 1053 unknown error 1053.

Well, before to contact HP Support to solve the problem I was decided to try a little bit. Surfing in hp website forum i found a workaround and i wish to share with other users. The solution was:
Step 1)
Stop the service:
# omnisv -stop
Step 2)
Move files from /var/opt/omni/server/db40/logfiles/syslog/ to a temp directory:

# mkdir /tmp/dataprotector_ts
# mv /var/opt/omni/server/db40/logfiles/syslog/* /tmp/dataprotector_ts/

Step 3)
Rename files
# mv /var/opt/omni/server/db40/datafiles/catalog/rdm.chi /var/opt/omni/server/db40/datafiles/catalog/rdm.chi.orig
Step 4)

# omnisv -start
